I Was Going To Do It Earlier
I’ve been planning this post for quite a while, but today I saw Dean Allen do it so I guess it’s my turn. So, without further ado: my favorite podcasts, besides my own. (Eastern Threat and Dopetraq)
Dance music mixes, mostly techno, house and disco. The show appears to update somewhat sporadically, and there hasn’t been an episode in weeks.
As they say themselves, and sparing me of some writing: rare disco, old school soul & funk mix show. Hasn’t been updated in ages.
A weekly talk show in Swedish, “small thoughts about big things and big thoughts about small things”. They have a few irritating regular guests, but the sidekicks are mostly good. Stan Saanila, a Finnish comedian, used to be a regular guest.
Fabric is a nightclub in London, and release two series of mixes: the regular Fabric series, and the Fabric:Live series. I frankly don’t know what the difference is. Anyway, this is a biweekly podcast with famous (?) DJs going through their influences in two episodes per DJ.
Mac personalities discussing all things Apple. Worth listening to just for Andy Ihnatko and Merlin Mann.
Diplo’s label’s podcast, “NPR for the streets”. That means hip hop and other related genres, practically.
Resident Advisor is an Australian (I think) techno website, and produces this excellent podcast with mixes by well-known DJs.
Jon Hicks and John Oxton talk web design and things. Lately though they’ve mostly just been answering listener’s questions.
Dan Benjamin and John Gruber discuss, well, anything really.
A weekly mix show with DFA friend Tim Sweeney as the host, with DJs as guests.
“A journal of emotional hygiene”, with hotdogsladies, lonelysandwich and scottsimpson. I can’t really describe it well, so have a listen instead.
Yeah, it’s a bunch of music and people talking about things. But they’re great to listen to. Check them now! (and check mine too)
